Even in the midst of a pandemic, we were able to can meat. Not only did we can meat, we canned more meat than we ever have! God blessed us with five days to can meat, monetary donations, volunteers, good weather and good health! Praise God!!!
Meat canning 2020 was unlike any other year of meat canning. We are still amazed, but not surprised at how God put things into place and allowed us to can this year!
We couldn’t have done it without all the volunteers who came out to help. Final numbers: 35,747 lbs of chicken thighs resulted in 23,283 cans and 6 comforters were knotted during canning. In addition, WMS sent to MCC 96 school kits, 65 hygiene kits, 15 sewing kits, 27 comforters, 3 quilts and 3 blankets.
The majority of canned meat is distributed through Mennonite Central Committee to countries in desperate need of food. While ten percent of the filled cans are distributed to local area food pantries.
We are grateful for the generous outpouring of financial resources and volunteers.
This project is an above budget ministry. Donations can be made throughout the year. Donations should be sent to the church and designated for "canning".
